How to set up the Teamspective app in ChatGPT?
Last updated: June 30, 2026
Overview
The Teamspective app enables ChatGPT users to securely access and interact with data from their Teamspective workspace directly within ChatGPT.
In ChatGPT Business and Enterprise workspaces, administrators control which third-party apps employees can use. Before users can connect the Teamspective app, a workspace administrator must enable it and grant access to the appropriate users or roles. Enterprise workspaces have apps disabled by default, while Business administrators can also manage app availability and permissions.
Before you begin
Make sure you have:
Workspace Admin or Owner permissions in ChatGPT
A ChatGPT Business or Enterprise workspace
An active Teamspective workspace
Users who have Teamspective accounts they can authenticate with
Note: Enabling an app makes it available to users, but each user must still sign in to their own Teamspective account before ChatGPT can access their data.
Step 1: Open ChatGPT Workspace Settings
Sign in to your ChatGPT workspace.
Select Workspace Settings.
Open Apps.
This page lists all apps that can be managed by your organization.
Step 2: Enable the Teamspective app
Search for Teamspective in the Apps catalog.
Open the app details.
Review:
The permissions requested by the app
The data the app can access
Any available actions the app can perform
Select Enable.
If your organization has a security review process, complete that review before enabling the app for users.
Step 3: Grant user access
After enabling the app, choose who can use it.
Depending on your workspace configuration, you can:
Allow all workspace members
Restrict access to specific roles or groups (Enterprise RBAC)
Enable the app only for pilot users before wider rollout
Enterprise administrators can assign app access using custom roles through Workspace Settings → Permissions & Roles.
Step 4: Ask users to connect their Teamspective account
Once the app is available:
Users open ChatGPT.
They select the Teamspective app when prompted or from the Apps menu.
They sign in using their Teamspective credentials.
They grant ChatGPT permission to access their Teamspective account.
After authentication, ChatGPT can use the Teamspective app within conversations according to the permissions granted by the user.
Step 5: Verify the connection
Ask a pilot user to confirm the setup by asking ChatGPT a Teamspective-related question, for example:
"Summarize the latest employee engagement results."
"Show the themes from the latest pulse survey."
"What are the top improvement areas from recent feedback?"
If ChatGPT successfully retrieves Teamspective information, the setup is complete.
Managing access
Administrators can return to Workspace Settings → Apps at any time to:
Disable the Teamspective app
Change which users or roles can access it
Review app permissions
Roll out the app to additional departments
Any changes take effect according to your workspace's app access policies.
Troubleshooting
Users cannot find the Teamspective app
Possible causes:
The app has not been enabled by a workspace administrator.
The user's role is not permitted to access the app.
The app has been disabled after rollout.
Users receive a "Disabled by admin" message
The workspace administrator must grant access to the user's role before the app can be connected.
Users are prompted to sign in repeatedly
Ask the user to:
Verify they are signing into the correct Teamspective account.
Disconnect and reconnect the Teamspective app.
Contact their organization's ChatGPT administrator if the issue persists.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does enabling the app automatically give ChatGPT access to our Teamspective data?
No. Enabling the app only makes it available within your ChatGPT workspace. Each user must authenticate with their own Teamspective account before ChatGPT can access data they are authorized to view.
Can I restrict the app to specific teams?
Yes. Enterprise workspaces support role-based access control (RBAC), allowing administrators to grant access only to selected users or departments.
Can users install the app without administrator approval?
In managed ChatGPT Business and Enterprise workspaces, administrators control which apps are available. If the Teamspective app has not been enabled for the user's workspace or role, users cannot connect it.
