What tools can Lea AI Agent use?

Last updated: August 12, 2026

Lea can use a set of tools to help managers and HR teams work with Teamspective data, prepare for conversations, and keep follow-ups moving. The exact tools available depend on which Teamspective features your organization has enabled and whether you are using Lea inside Teamspective or through an MCP connector such as Claude, ChatGPT, or Microsoft Copilot.

What determines which tools Lea can use?

Lea only uses tools that are available for your workspace and permitted for your user account. In practice, this means:

  • You only see data you are allowed to access.

  • Some tools appear only when a feature such as Pulse, Feedback, Documents, Discussions, Tasks, or Role Descriptions is enabled.

  • When Lea is used through an MCP connector, the available tools are almost the same as in Teamspective, with a few native chat-specific differences.

Core workspace and calendar tools

These tools help Lea understand your workspace and assist with meeting coordination.

  • Understand your context — Lea can understand who you are, your role, your teams, your direct reports, and what information you are allowed to access.

  • Find people — Lea can search for people in your workspace by name, team, manager relationship, or available segment filters.

  • Understand the workspace structure — Lea can inspect teams, reporting lines, and workspace segments so it can answer questions in the right organizational context.

  • Read reference files — Lea can use accessible company reference material, such as leadership principles, values, or other attached guidance.

  • Check calendar availability — Lea can look for available meeting times.

  • Schedule calendar events — Lea can create meetings on your behalf.

  • Read personal engagement answers — Lea can retrieve a person’s own survey answers where access rules allow it.

  • List survey questions — Lea can show which survey questions exist in the workspace.

  • List surveys — Lea can show available, active, or past surveys.

  • Create or update surveys — Lea can save changes to a survey.

  • Create or update survey questions — Lea can save changes to survey questions.

Performance / Feedback tools

Available when Performance module and Feedback functionality is enabled.

  • Read feedback — Lea can retrieve feedback about a person, team, or scope that you are allowed to access.

Using Lea through MCP connectors

When Lea is used through MCP connectors such as Claude, ChatGPT, or Microsoft Copilot, it can use almost the same business tools as the native Teamspective experience.

Through MCP connectors, Lea can generally:

  • Read workspace structure, people, engagement data, feedback, documents, discussions, and tasks.

  • Create or update surveys, survey questions, documents, discussions, tasks, role descriptions, and calendar events.

  • Draft and submit feedback or praise when the relevant features are enabled.

The main difference is that native chat-specific behavior, such as switching the Teamspective chat into a dedicated feedback-writing mode, is only available inside Teamspective.

Privacy, permissions, and decision-making

Lea follows Teamspective access controls. It does not give users access to data they would not otherwise be allowed to see.

Lea is designed to inform and assist, not to make people decisions. It can summarize information, suggest next steps, and help draft content, but managers and HR teams remain responsible for judgment and decisions. Anonymity protections and workspace permissions continue to apply.

Summary

In practice, Lea can help you prepare for 1:1s, understand engagement and feedback, draft and send feedback, manage follow-ups, work with documents and discussions, update role descriptions, and coordinate meetings. The exact set of tools depends on your organization’s enabled Teamspective features and your access rights.
