How to Set Up the AI Connector in Microsoft Copilot (Copilot Studio)
Last updated: February 23, 2026
Quick Summary
To set up the Teamspective AI Connector in Microsoft Copilot
create or edit an agent in Copilot Studio,
add the Model Context Protocol (MCP) tool,
connect it to the Teamspective MCP server, and
publish the agent to Microsoft 365 Copilot.
Steps
Before you begin, ensure:
You have a Microsoft 365 Copilot license.
You have Copilot Studio maker permissions (Environment Maker role or above).
Your Power Platform admin has enabled “Publish bots with AI features.”
Go to copilotstudio.microsoft.com and create a new agent or open an existing one.
Enable generative orchestration under Settings → Generative AI.
Inside your agent, go to Tools → Add a tool → New tool.
Select Model Context Protocol (MCP) (available only in agent-level tools).
Enter the following details:
Server name: Teamspective
Description: Access engagement surveys, feedback, and collaboration insights from Teamspective
Server URL: https://demo.teamspective.com/mcp
Under Authentication, select OAuth 2.0 and Dynamic discovery.
Click Create and sign in to Teamspective when prompted to authorize the connection.
Test the setup in the Test Chat panel.
Click Publish and enable the Teams and Microsoft 365 Copilot channels.
In the Microsoft 365 admin center → Copilot → Agents, control which users can access the agent.
Tip: Use clear agent instructions (e.g., “Answer questions about engagement surveys and feedback using the Teamspective tool”) to improve response quality.
Common Issue
If the Model Context Protocol (MCP) option does not appear:
Check that you are adding the tool at the agent level (not topic level).
Confirm you have the correct maker permissions.
Verify that “Publish bots with AI features” is enabled by your Power Platform admin.
Fix: Ask your admin to confirm licensing, role permissions, and feature enablement in the Power Platform environment.
FAQ
Q: Do I need a special Copilot license?
A: Yes. Microsoft 365 Copilot licenses are required to use and publish agents connected to external tools.
Q: Can the connector modify Teamspective data?
A: No. The Teamspective AI Connector is read-only. It can view data based on your permissions but cannot make changes.
